Summers in Southern California are Hot!
Our electric bills skyrocket during the summer months, especially for our Transitional Living Programs where each apartment has their own a.c. unit. While we are doing our part to lower our bills, we are asking for your assistance in keeping our kids cool. We hope you will consider a monthly donation for four months, but we appreciate ANY amount you can give.
Thank you on behalf of the over 250 at risk young people we will serve this summer!
FULL SHELTER SPONSORSHIP
The "Heat" is on during the summer months in Southern California and as temperatures increase so does the cost of running our four housing programs. As a Full Shelter Sponsor, you become an essential part in supporting runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth who access SafeHouse of the Deserts emergency shelter in times of crisis. Your four month donation will go directly towards our program electric bills for the summer months.
We provide a safe environment where each young person's, educational, emotional and physical needs are being met. During the summer, anxiety and tensions can rise in an uncomfortable environment. In order for our youth to thrive in this already stressful situation; our goal is to make our shelter programs as comfortable as possible. With your help, we can make life easier for the youth we are supporting.
As an apartment sponsor you will help strengthen the morale of a struggling young adult (18-22). The older homeless youth in our Transitional Living Programs are given a road map to start building a successful future while living in a caring and supportive environment. While in our program, youth receive mental health counseling, continuing education, employment assistance, life skills, financial education, and access to medical and dental healthcare.

Mary is a single mom to a 1 year old and has no other family support, she was referred to our Transitional Living Program (TLP) by a teacher. She had been living with her parents, but they told her she would need to leave home once she graduated High School. Mary's father verbally abused her and she had been kicked out several times before even staying with her baby’s father when she really needed a place to go. Mary and her baby's father broke up leaving her without housing options. She entered the Transitional Living Program with a High School diploma and a part time job, but she really needed help with her continuing education, money management and housing. While in our program, Mary has been assisted with all of these life skills and through our counseling program she has been given a new outlook on life as well as a new direction. Mary is well on her way to success and independence.
